About 73.2 per cent of the 2.43 crore electorate exercised their franchise in 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala, where polling passed off on a peaceful note Thursday.
The poll fate of 269 candidates was sealed in EVMs in the state, where the fight is between ruling Congress-led UDF and opposition CPM-led LDF and BJP, which is desperately trying to shed its tag of the perennial loser.
The polling had wound up by 6 pm across Kerala except Kalamassery where the time has been extended upto 8.15 pm.
Kannur has witnessed maximum polling. Though polling percentage was high till the afternoon it went at a sluggish pace towards the evening. Heavy showers at certain places have also affected the turn out of voters.
Authorities had made elaborate security arrangements in all 21,424 polling stations across the state, which witnessed brisk polling right from morning.

സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ 20 മണ്ഡലങ്ങളിലേക്കായി നടന്ന വോട്ടെടുപ്പ് അവസാനിച്ചു. രാവിലെ ഏഴു മണിക്കു തുടങ്ങിയ പോളിംഗ് വൈകിട്ട് ആറു മണിയോടെയാണ് സമാപിച്ചത്. ഇതുവരെയുള്ള കണക്കുകള്‍ അനുസരിച്ച് സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് 74 ശതമാനം പോളിംഗാണ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്നാണ് അനൗദ്യോഗിക കണക്ക്. അന്തിമ കണക്കുകള്‍ വരുമ്പോള്‍ പോളിംഗ് 80 ശതമാനത്തിലെത്തിയേക്കും. 81 ശതമാനം പോളിംഗ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ കണ്ണൂരും വടകരയുമാണ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ പോളിംഗ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയ മണ്ഡലങ്ങള്‍.
66 ശതമാനം പോളിംഗ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി പത്തനംതിട്ടയാണ് ഏറ്റവും കുറവ് പോളിംഗ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. വൈകിട്ട് ആറുമണിവരെയുള്ള കണക്കനുസരിച്ച് മറ്റു മണ്ഡലങ്ങളിലെ പോളിംഗ് ശതമാനം: തിരുവനന്തപുരം(68.6%), ആറ്റിങ്ങല്‍(68.8%), കൊല്ലം(71.6%), പത്തനംതിട്ട(65.8%), മാവേലിക്കര(71%), ആലപ്പുഴ(78.8%), കോട്ടയം(71.4%), ഇടുക്കി(70.5%), എറണാകുളം(72.8%), ചാലക്കുടി(77%), തൃശൂര്‍(72.4%), ആലത്തൂര്‍(76.5%), പാലക്കാട്(75.4%), പൊന്നാനി(74.1%), മലപ്പുറം(71.4%), കോഴിക്കോട്(79.6%), വയനാട്(73.2%), വടകര(81.4%), കണ്ണൂര്‍(80.9%), കാസര്‍ഗോഡ്(78.1%)
